Why Preschool is Important
Preschool is a pivotal stage in a child's development that can significantly impact their future success.
Experience the difference at our Christian preschool and daycare. We provide a nurturing environment that promotes academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development.
We understand the importance of students learning and growing in a positive school environment that offers long-term, secure relationships that support academic, physical, social, and emotional development. Education must inspire and motivate children’s creativity, imagination, compassion, self-knowledge, social skills, and emotional health. This is why we don’t only focus on one area of development, but we cultivate the whole child.
Your child will be taught and modeled throughout our daily lessons about character traits such as honesty and integrity at our Christian preschool and daycare. Additionally, students are given numerous opportunities throughout the year through daily Bible lessons, curriculum with a Biblical Worldview and weekly chapel services.
By developing interpersonal skills such as sharing, communication, mutual respect, and collaboration, students are educated within their class ‘family’ in how to grow healthy friendships at our Christian preschool and daycare. We will provide opportunities for building relationships with their peers through ongoing experiences such as class holiday parties and school-wide events throughout the year.
Our Christian preschool and daycare students are provided with a well-rounded education equipping them to reach their God-given potential, using a challenging curriculum with accelerated opportunities, a rich specials program with a focus on the 4C’s of Education: Creativity, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Communication to develop future world changers.
Physical Education is not only important for the health and growth of our at our Christian preschool and daycare students but also for their academic success. When they are given opportunities each day to exert their natural energy, students can focus more in a structured environment. Physical Education classes such as stretch and grow, recess, and after school activities through our specials program called Primetime Patriots is a rewarding way for children to generalize learned skills.
Cornerstone Christian Academy (CCA) was born out of desire and passion to provide quality care and education to children and their families in the community. Barbara and Jason moved to Texas in 2000 to start their family and have lived in the Northwest DFW area for the past 23 years. They have two children, both studying in college. As their children prepare for their own graduation and starting their lives and having their own young family; Barbara and Jason want an environment their future grandchildren would thrive, excel in all areas of development while being cared for in a nurturing yet structured learning environment that focuses on faith and family values.
Barbara has spent the last 30 years working with children and their families in various environments with varying abilities. Barbara has worked with families across Washington state, California, Oklahoma, and Texas to gain much needed services for their continued growth and development to become upstanding citizens in their community. Barbara has pioneered programs for at risk youth for nonprofit programs that have gained national implementation. Barbara has worked with state and federal congressmen to implement lifelong impactful changes.
Ephesians 2:20- 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone.
Brianna and Barbara have known each other professionally and personally since their time in Texas-most recently working together in a pediatrics clinic serving early intervention children. Having a young family, Brianna, and her husband know the importance of a strong foundation in faith and education. Brianna has spent her career as a certified teacher in early childhood through 6th grade and ESL, a behavior analyst, and a program director. But first and foremost, an advocate for children from all walks of life. Brianna is passionate about developing young minds while supporting the next generations of children to strive for excellence in their spiritual relationships, academic excellence, social development, and physical aptitude.
We believe that joy comes from what you give rather than what you receive, and we are excited to give our community a solid foundation that will develop and encourage the next generation of world changers.
At CCA we use several educational tools to ensure each child is met exactly where they are in their development. Each tool we use is founded with a heavy emphasis in classical education. Classical education has been around for hundreds of years and has been the mode of educating many of the strongest minds in history, including Plato, Socrates, and even our own founding fathers. This model of education is designed to walk children through virtuous learning, while teaching them to grow through the stages of knowledge, understanding, and wisdom. Classical education emerges as a greater awareness of the moral imperative to others and the ability to create change and opportunity in the world—even when faced with resistance and obstacles.
There are several elements in the classical model which support children through their stages of growth:
Our after-school program at CCA is uniquely designed for students in Kindergarten (5 years) through 12 years old. We offer a range of enriching activities, including our distinctive Primetime Patriots program, which provides homework assistance, small group tutoring, art, and outdoor play. We strongly emphasize the need for students to develop social skills and independence while learning within a nurturing Christian environment. We understand the challenges of managing school and work schedules. That's why we provide a convenient pick-up service from a select number of schools in NISD, making it easier for you to consider our after-school program.
CCA’s program for our three-year-olds (3-K) will experience hands-on learning through experimentation and exploration to build higher-level thinking, language, math, social and motor skills; threes love fun and challenging experiences. Our curriculum coordinator will offer activities to creatively stimulate minds to the highest level possible by partnering with parents to provide a strong spiritual foundation in a loving, nurturing Christ-centered environment.
Prekindergarten is the beginning stage for grammar development, which is the time period leading up to the formal "Grammar Stage" (school-age). During this time of learning, children will be exposed to:
At CCA, we are faithful, passionate, and dedicated members of your community who find working with children one of the most significant rewards. Building future leaders is a gift bestowed upon us, and we are honored to be part of your family's educational journey.
